Rising above
the valley floor, you’ll find the most spectacular place you can
visit east of the Mississippi. The Tennessee Smokey Mountains
offer an oasis for the harried lifestyle that we live. Peace,
quiet, and serenity are just a few of the many gifts offered by
this historical landscape. Amanda and I discovered this hidden
treasure during our weekend getaway.
Arriving
in Asheville, North Carolina, we traced the curves of the Blue
Ridge Parkway along the mountainside. Roadside pullouts offered
picturesque views of the distant unfolding landscape. Cowee mountain range was our favorite,
and was also just down the road from the highest peak in the Blue
Ridge Mountains, with an elevation of just over 6000 feet. We
continued north to enter into the Great Smokey Mountains, winding
through the turns and stopping at distinct locations along the
way.
We enjoyed
hiking along part of the famous Appalachian Trail, as well as
discovering the dream-like mountain streams as we perused some of
the hiking trails. Our couple of days spent visiting this natural wonder
didn’t last long enough, but we departed relaxed and rejuvenated.
Thank you
Father God for creating this spot on earth for us to enjoy!
